Program Overview

Harvard alumni, researcher, writer, certified executive coach, and visionary behind The Edvisory, Cathleen has helped thousands of students unlock their unique path to success and gain admissions to top-tier colleges, leading with visionary resonance, intuitive clarity, and a gift for transformation.

With a background in English Literature and Creative Writing from USC, and advanced studies across Harvard’s Graduate School of Education, Business School, Law School, Divinity School, and Kennedy School, she has cultivated an interdisciplinary approach to consulting, coaching, and education that merges scholarship, soul, and strategy.

From researching ethics and character in higher education at Harvard to getting certified as an executive coach, Cathleen draws from a rare interdisciplinary foundation—spanning literature, practical theology, psychology, leadership development and business. Her signature approach doesn’t just get students accepted; it gets them seen.

Her work began with a simple insight—no one was asking students the deeper questions. The system was pushing them through applications without ever pausing to consider who they really were.

She created The Edvisory to be what the current system isn’t: personal, imaginative, and transformational. Her team now works with students all over the world—creatives, visionaries, and trailblazers—crafting custom paths to college and graduate school that are as original as they are successful.

Natalie Lima is a college and graduate school essay coach. She's a Northwestern alum, and a recent graduate of the MFA program in creative writing at the University of Arizona. Her writing honors include fellowships from PEN America Emerging Voices, the Tin House Workshops, the VONA/Voices Workshop, the Virginia G. Piper Center for Creative Writing, and a residency from Hedgebrook in 2020. Her writing has also been included in Best Small Fictions, Best American Essays, and Entropy Magazine's Best Online Articles & Essays. She's taught fiction and English composition at the University of Arizona and led writing workshops for Writopia LA, The Porch Workshops, POPS the Club, and the Young Arizona Writers' Workshop.

As a playwright, Jolly wrote the historical drama bonded (nominated for the Los Angeles Stage Alliance Ovation Award for Playwriting and the GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Los Angeles Theatre, and winner of the 2013 Arch and Bruce Brown Playwriting Award for LGBT Historical Plays). Jolly's playwriting has also been developed at Horizon Theatre Company, CalArts Celebration Theatre, Company of Angels, The Vagrancy, EST/LA, The Warehouse Theatre and Playwrights' Arena. Sarah graduated summa cum laude from Columbia University in 2014 with a degree in East Asian Languages and Cultures, focusing on Chinese language. She also completed one year of intensive Mandarin language training at Peking University in Beijing before earning her master's degree at the University of Cambridge in Chinese Studies. Sarah worked in Beijing for a leading Chinese e-commerce company and a popular internet media platform before committing herself to education full-time. While working in Beijing, she discovered her passion for education after successfully helping her boss' daughter gain acceptance to her dream university. Sarah works with highly motivated students from all over the world using a tailored approach to ensure cohesive, creative, and comprehensive applications. She is a strong believer in the importance of "fit" and very much enjoys helping each and every student applying to both boarding school and university reach his or her full potential!

Hanna Fahsholtz graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Southern California with a degree in Narrative Studies. She spent a year teaching in Madrid as a Fulbright scholar before working as an adjunct instructor at the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, where she led writing workshops for undergraduate students. Most recently, Hanna was accepted to graduate programs at Harvard and the University of Pennsylvania and will start earning her master’s in UCLA’s Teacher Education Program this fall. She is thrilled to combine her passions for writing and education by empowering students to understand their stories and share them in authentic, compelling applications.

Jessica Gerhardt is a graduate from Reed College in Portland, OR where she received her B.A. in Psychology. When she was a high school student, Jessica was accepted into the OneVoice Scholars Program, which paired her with a one-on-one college prep counselor. Her experience navigating college applications, essay writing, and applying for scholarships and financial aid equipped her well to pay it forward with other students pursuing a college education. During her time at Reed she also interned in their Admission Office which gave her an inside look at what admission counselors look for in prospective students, and she became a skilled interviewer. After graduating from Reed, she pursued a career in music as a singer-songwriter and recording artist in Los Angeles, CA while simultaneously working as a Director of Youth Ministry.
